Hi,
the web master here.
The
developer planning the inappropriate coastal development has chosen
to anonymously bully me, an individual volunteer in a community
campaign, in recent advertisements in local community newspapers.
The
letter referred to in the advertisements by the developer was published
on 15/2/07. Read it in full and compare it to the developer's partial
quotes, if you have seen the advertisement.
My
response to the developer's propaganda:
+ Supporters
who register via the web form go directly on to the Save Smiths
Beach campaign data base held by the Smiths Beach Action Group (SBAG).
This web site works in community with the SBAG to provide that ability.
Supporters' privacy is respected.
+ This
web site does not collect donations or handle funds that go to SBAG.
Donations can be made directly into the SBAG bank account. Donors
can phone the Commonwealth Bank to verify the details provided.
+ The
web site and the Smiths Beach Action Group committee are not the
same thing. Just like two people sitting next to each other at a
community meeting are not the same entity. The SBAG and this web
site work together, in community, against inappropriate development
at Smiths Beach. The developer appears unable to understand what
a community is.
+ I
am a supporter of a community campaign. I do not vote on the Action
Group committee. I help out with a common goal. I communicate with
the SBAG committee because that is how a community works. It is
how the SBAG can have a presence on the Internet and communicate
with supporters who visit this site. This web site is how I help
and I write letters as well.
+ The
developer did not have permission to use a
cartoon in another one of their advertisements. Acknowledging
that the cartoon was copied from this web site is not the same as
actually asking and receiving permission for its use.
+ The
cartoon was drawn on the 15th of January, 2007, two weeks after
a public meeting display of the developer's own images at the Yallingup
Hall. To claim, "the original cartoon was placed on the ...
web site many weeks before the images ... were available",
was labelled as a "fact", but is a lie.
If
you would like to contact me for more details or discussion, use
the contact links from the home page. Remember, I am not an SBAG
spokesperson. Comments I make are my own opinion that seem to be
shared by many. I'll endevour to respond to each enquiry.
If
you feel motivated to write a letter to a newspaper about your thoughts
on Smiths Beach and inappropriate development, I encourage you.
Bad
things happen when people don't stand up to bullies.
Regards,
Frank
