Proposed changes to town planning sheme ensure development control

23 April 2003

Smiths Beach Action Group, Press Statement |1|2|

The Smiths Beach Action Group are pleased that the Busselton Shire has passed a resolution to put the changes to the Town Planning Scheme in regard to Smiths Beach out for public comment.

It is our concern that the developer has not given up on a major township development in conflict with the community's expectations. The changes to the Town Planning Scheme will ensure that there are controls are in place to guide the size and design of the next development.

We believe the public interest in Smiths Beach is still very high and expect the community will take this opportunity to support the changes and make known to the council that they will not allow a large or inappropriate development to take place there.

Council has demonstrated its ownership of its Town Planning Scheme and S.B.A.G is confident that Council will receive a positive response from the community.

Bob McKay Chairman, Smiths Beach Action Group.
